A Little Wedding History for you....The Garter Toss

History of the Garter Toss/Bouquet Toss:

Way back in the 14th century, it was believed to be good luck to have a piece of the newlyweds' clothing.  But of course sometimes the crowd got alittle too drunk, and would rip the brides dress in order to get a lucky charm.  (go figure) so, her husband would have to step in and save his bride from the crowd, so it came to be that the groom would toss the garter to prevent them from disrobing his bride!  Thus came the garter toss that attracted the men, and the safer alternative, the bouquet was tossed for the women.  Thank God we have evolved!! (slightly).
